Sometimes I wonder what it is like not to know anything about anything. One’s cup will be so empty, it will be easy to absorb what is to come, especially at a matured age. When I look at my kids and their approach to something new, I can’t but analyze the way they patiently move gradually through the learning curve to perfect their way around utilizing the thing or the opportunity.
The computer age makes this exciting, engaging and easy to analyze, at least for my kids. This makes me wonder if at adulthood with our idiosyncratic mindsets, we can once in a while swallow our pride and approach things with an empty cup, forgetting all we think we know and open up ourselves to discover something new.
This is easier said than done, we make up our minds about just anything in a split second most times making it somewhat easier to stereotype people, events, training, define things, use religion to justify our stance (paralogizomyne) etc and once this is done, one may never see the benefit others with expectations see. It generally makes us cynical and skeptical,  a trend that that is common in today’s youth.
I learnt the hard way that the best way to live free is to open our hearts to things around us with a different attitude. As Martin Luther King once said “Darkness can not dispel darkness, Light does that and Hatred can not conquer Hatred, Love does that”. Reading through series of threads you will find people attacking people they call friends over difference in ideology, heavy curses and generalization over things we barely understand and so on…
These are not only preponderant amongst individuals but also in organizations, churches, institutions of learning etc and I wonder where we are headed. Could it really be true that the illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn?
Good Morning and Happy New Year Folks.
